About Me

Grüezi Mittenand!

Welcome to the errant English-language ramblings of a Canadian in Zürich, the greatest thrifting city it has ever been my fortune to inhabit.

I've created this humble (read: poorly maintained and likely to be abandoned without warning) blog to fill a perceived void in cyberspace - blogs specific to 'thrifting' in Zürich. As far as I can tell with my limited Deutsch, there doesn't seem to be much on offer in German, either.

I'm sure reading about a stranger's thrift store acquisitions may strike the reader as inherently useless.... but I subscribe to quite a few blogs that are essentially showcases of the successes of others in this field, and I'm utterly transfixed by them.

So much so, that I must've wasted countless hours scouring the internet for blogs dedicated to Zürich thrifting, both in preparation for my trans-Atlantic hop and subsequent relocation, and also during my exploration and 'settling in' phase (which is still ongoing).

I hope that this provides you, dear reader, with some encouragement and inspiration. I'm pretty sure that's what I was looking for in the first place. I'll also try to include useful local information on the second-hand scene, but as is the way with the internet, I can't guarantee it'll be up-to-date or relevant when you stumble upon it.

If you took the time to read all this, then you have my thanks. And can I also encourage you to start a thrift blog of your own? Let's promote a trend towards reused, recycled and sweat-shop by-passing fashion!
